The Beringer Winery was founded in 1876 by Jacob and Frederick Beringer, German immigrants who sought out rocky, well drained soils comparable to those in their native Rhine Valley. Quixote is one of the most distinctive wineries in Napa Valley. In 1995 Coppola purchased the last remaining piece of the original estate, called Inglenook Chateau, and its surrounding vineyards. Silver Oak takes its name from its Napa Valley Estate, which is located between the Silverado Trail and the town of Oakville. The original winery was housed in a dairy barn, which burned down in 2006.
